What is Hand Rejuvenation?
Ageing will result in a loss of elasticity in the skin and the dermis (skin layer) becomes thinner. With the loss of collagen this also has a thinning effect we will also notice the veins and tendons becoming more visible. Additionally sun damage may have occurred resulting in sunspots or actinic keratosis.
Dermal filler for hand rejuvenation.
Dermal fillers are used to restoring volume to the back of hands and reduce the signs of ageing. The filler consists of hyaluronic acid (this is a natural sugar found in body). The application is by needle or cannula small threads of the filler are then massaged into the hand giving a smoother more youthful look.
Benefits
- For the filler method of hand rejuvenation, there is very little pain associated and it takes about 30 minutes to perform. Skin on the back of the hand is gently pinched and lifted up prior to the injection, so that the veins underneath will not be in the way. The filler is injected to the subcutaneous space on the back of the hand.
No unsightly scar no scalpel or stitches involved.

Treatment & Downtime
There is minimal downtime with a hand rejuvenation procedure. Although you may experience redness, swelling, and/or tenderness in the area for up to 2 weeks, patients can return to their everyday activities immediately after treatment.
On average, hand rejuvenation with fillers lasts up to 6 to 12 months, depending on the filler used. Patients who diet and exercise regularly may experience greater volume loss and more rapid aging in the hands and therefore may require more frequent touch-ups and maintenance treatments.
